The American Society of Media Photographers, Washington DC Chapter • this society represents the region's best photographers and provides education and inspiration to promote the professional development of its members. It requires 3 years of active professional work for publications as a condition of full membership and admits as associates photographers with less experience. Also admits partner members (vendors).

National Press Photographers Association • this association is dedicated to photojournalism, including the promotion of high quality and ethical standards.
